As the warm breeze of summer begins to sweep through our vineyard, we are reminded of the beauty and vibrancy that this season brings. At Vineyard Grant James, the arrival of summer is marked by the buzzing of bees and the delicate flutter of hummingbirds, both of which have made our vineyard their seasonal home.
A Haven for Hummingbirds and Bees
Recently, we've had the delightful surprise of discovering a few hummingbird nests tucked away among our vines. These tiny birds, with their iridescent feathers and rapid wing beats, add a touch of magic to our vineyard. Hummingbirds are particularly attracted to our vineyard because of the abundance of flowering plants that provide them with a rich source of nectar. The bees, too, are drawn to our vineyard for similar reasons, as they play a crucial role in pollinating the grapevines, ensuring a bountiful harvest.
Introducing Our New Blush Wine
In celebration of the season, we are thrilled to introduce our newest creation: a refreshing blush wine. Made from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, this is a dry wine with fruity and floral notes. It is incredibly refreshing with a crisp acidity, making it a great choice for salads, seafods, and light pasta dishes.
Whether you're enjoying a casual afternoon on the patio or hosting a summer soirée, our blush wine is the ideal companion.
Perfect Pairings for Blush Wine
To complement our blush wine, we've crafted two delightful pairings that highlight its unique flavors:
Appetizer: Strawberry Goat Cheese Crostini
Ingredients:
Fresh baguette, sliced
Goat cheese
Fresh strawberries, sliced
Balsamic glaze
Fresh basil leaves
Instructions:
Toast the baguette slices until golden brown.
Spread a generous layer of goat cheese on each slice.
Top with fresh strawberry slices.
Drizzle with balsamic glaze.
Garnish with a fresh basil leaf.
The creamy goat cheese pairs beautifully with the sweet strawberries, while the balsamic glaze adds a tangy kick, all perfectly balanced by a glass of our blush wine.
Dinner: Grilled Chicken with Peach Salsa
Ingredients:
Chicken breasts
Olive oil
Salt and pepper
Fresh peaches, diced
Red onion, finely chopped
Jalapeño, seeded and minced
Lime juice
Fresh cilantro, chopped
Instructions:
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Brush the chicken breasts with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
Grill the chicken until fully cooked, about 6-7 minutes per side.
In a bowl, combine diced peaches, red onion, jalapeño, lime juice, and cilantro to make the salsa.
Serve the grilled chicken topped with the fresh peach salsa.
This dish highlights the sweetness of the peaches and the slight heat from the jalapeño, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that pairs wonderfully with the crisp, fruity notes of our blush wine.
As we embrace the summer season at Vineyard Grant James, we invite you to visit us, enjoy the beauty of nature, and savor our new blush wine with these delightful pairings. Cheers to a vibrant and flavorful summer!
